Melissa Etheridge’s ex-spouse, Tammy Lynn Michaels, is requesting additional child support for their children. Currently, Etheridge pays Michaels $23,000 per month in child support. Michaels claims that she is struggling to survive on $23,000 per month. Michaels filed court documents stating that Etheridge earns over $177,000 per month and she and their children became accustomed to their extravagant life.
Michaels also claims Etheridge is brainwashing their children, allegedly training them to be emotionally distant and rude to her, and cursing in front of them, according to the court papers, obtained by TMZ.com.
The actress, who wants Etheridge to pay more child support and cover her legal costs, has also taken aim at her ex for refusing to let the kids get vaccinated.
The former partners are heading back to court next month for the latest battle in their custody war over twins Miller and Johnnie.
From an Orange County divorce lawyer’s perspective, if the former couple are headed back to court to battle child custody and visitation, this issue will need to be resolved before settling on a child support amount. As always, a custodial timeshare will need to be worked out prior to finalizing child support.
